Art and play therapy

Using art and games in therapy for teenagers

Making therapy accessible and engaging

How does it work?

Art and play therapy is generally young-person led which means they choose what they would like to do, play with or create during sessions. This can be very empowering and help to build confidence. Creating art is done in a very free way so young people don’t need to be ‘good at’ art - even doodles can be used therapeutically. Games are engaging and age-appropriate for teenagers.

Finding the right help

It’s really hard seeing your child struggle with their emotions. Maybe you’d really like to get them some help but you’re not sure where to turn. Perhaps you’re worried whether they will open up and engage with therapy. Or maybe you’re worried about them feeling nervous or uncomfortable with a new adult. Using art and games in therapy can really help.

Benefits of art and play therapy for teenagers

Many young people find art and games takes the pressure off and helps calm anxiety. By looking at their feelings from a distance, teens can safely explore difficult or even painful feelings, helping them let go of unhealthy coping mechanisms as they no longer need to block them out.

Hello, I’m Pippa

Over a decade specialising in child and adolescent development has shown me the power of creative connection. With a background in Psychology research and school teaching, I believe in evidence-based practices and understand the pressures young people face today. I began my arts therapy training in 2014 and have honed those skills in the following years supporting young people in schools and private practice.

Every young person is unique and needs their own tailored approach to help them move forward in life feeling more balanced and confident. I’m here to listen and guide gently. My goal is not to “fix”, but to nurture self-understanding and strength from within. I offer open conversations, free from judgement, about what they face and who they hope to become. Though the work lies ahead, they needn’t feel alone in the process. Together we’ll help them cultivate their innate courage and resilience.

Let’s get started.
